DSP - College of Direct Support

This course certificate is earned through a two-part process:
1st. Complete online Modules
2nd. Attend two live Classes.
The State of Maine has selected the College of Direct Support, a web-based learning management system available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for learners to improve their skills in caring for people across disabilities. By incorporating web-based learning, backed by nationally recognized curricula, the MECDS program is designed to promote the profession of direct support.
This course establishes a statewide, consistent foundation of knowledge and skills needed by support professionals to improve the delivery of the best possible services and support individuals with developmental disabilities. The College of Direct Support is creating a joint knowledge base among professionals and a common culture.
MFURANZIMA Direct Support Education facilitates individuals to complete the online modules and hosts two live classes. MDSE allows staff to use the company’s computers, provide hands-on guidance, including interpreter and translator services.
Please note that the state of Maine has requirements for employment as a DSP. To be a DSP in the state of Maine, you must be able to pass a background check, be at least 18 years of age, and have a high school diploma/GED/equivalent.
